Bangkok

Caleb was getting a little bored at Koh Samui so it was time to move on :( how anyone can be bored with the beach on your door step I will never understand!!!! Oh well! 

We got some cheap flights , but they were from the main land, so a taxi, boat ride and a bus later we made it to the airport.

Pretending to be asleep for the photo :) Blake didn't do such a good job.

The boys were very excited to find a very old playground outside the airport.  It was all made of steel - a bit dangerous! 

This one could have sliced your leg! It had metal planks as seats without rounded edges! 

Then a short walk onto the plane after some pot noodles for 'dinner'

Blake is getting very good at working the plane seat belts.

In the morning we set off to the train  with plans of Kidzania. 

 Unfortunately everyone in Thailand had the same idea it seams as it was a public holiday.  So we decided to do some Bowling and come back another day.

We had to buy some socks as we had not planned for a day of bowling, Blake had to wear just them as they didn't have a pair of shoes big enough for him.

Getting some pointers from Dad.

Blake almost beat Caleb so we had to try and not be so accurate when aiming :) 

It was a great time for everyone - especially Derryn who kicked every one's bum! 

We checked ou the water fountains on our way out. 

The next day we did Kidzania - totally awesome fun (check out the post if you are interested, totally amazing).

Then we had one day left before our flight to Chiang Mai so we did more kid related fun and went to bangkok Dreamworld.

It was a little dodgy but it was a pretty fun day.  Kind of like a badly looked after Gold Coast one! 

Caleb wanted desperately to be tall enough - maybe next time mate! 

Blake was excited from the start.

We started off with a exciting (not) vintage car ride. A whole 40 seconds of going around the railed track!!! Wow such fun ;) 

Much more fun was the Helicopter ride.

Then on to the cars, they both lived this 

Caleb was a great big brother and looked after Blake .

Daddy went on the chair roller coaster. If you look closely you can see him waving.

Not one of my finest parent moments.... But we took the boys into the haunted house!!! They were both totally freaked out!! Oops bad mum - then Blake refused to go into the Giant's house thinking it to be the same.  Caleb still enjoyed it.

On to the bumper boats next.  Blake lived them again and was a crazy driver.

 

We saw this seemingly calm roller coaster .  It ended up being really fast and fun and Caleb went on it three times.

There was heaps for Blake to do which was great.

Daddy and Caleb went on the super splash.  It was an epic splash!  

Derryn snuck his shirt off once they got going.  Can you see the half naked white dude in the front!?!?

We did some peddle boats.  Mum was paired with Blake so had to do all the work :( 

The boys were excited to actually get to put money into the machines. They were about 30c each, one 10 baht coin. Much better than the $2 in Australia! 

They also loved the big air conditioned playground.

We didn't love the dundgy smelly Bangkok, but the boys had a great time at all the things we visited.

Kidzania Bangkok

Let me start by saying - WOW!  What an amazing place purposefully built for kids 

As Blake is 3 we could have gone the cheaper ticket but it would have limited what he could have done, so we got him a full priced kids ticket, meant to be for 4 year olds but they had no issues with us paying and we found he was only too little for the rock climbing (that being said we didn't even get through half of the activities).

We tried to go twice - but the first time wa totally packed as it was a Thai public holiday and we had to go back the next day.  

When it said on the web site the shopping center didn't open until 10am they didn't mention every enter acne would be fenced off until then! 

We rushed to the front of kidzania and got our tickets. I had a total score when I noticed some people with their Air Asia boarding passes (one of their major sponsors) and got ours from the day before off the email quickly and showed them and it meant we got a Massive 40% discount! Amazing! It cost us only $54 to get in for 2 adults and 2 kids - should have been about $90!

First things the boys had to do was go to the   bank and get their money to play with.  I really enjoyed that parents were NOT allowed into any activities at all! Staff were very supportive and all helped Blake as he needed, as did his awesome big brother. They started the day with $50 and had to earn money by doing jobs like going being a vet or doing deliveries, or pay for activities like an eye test, or building climbing. 

They ended the day with $90 each to spend in a little shop - where they actually could buy a little toy! 

First Caleb did some building climbing. 

He wasn't too keen! He only made it half way.

Then to their first job to make some money.  

Once their uniforms were on they had to get their trolley and find their packages some where around the city.

All the while mum and dad had to dodge the ambulance and fire engines driving around the town.

Next job was vet. 

Uniform on and time to go in.  Only a certain amount of kids are allowed into each job at a time. 

After that the boys wanted to be a police man.  

First thing was to get their uniform on.

They had to out looking for someone - Caleb wasn't sure what he had done as he was sometimes talking in Thai! 

Next Caleb was on to construction worker. (Wasn't enough spaces for Blake so we watched)

Then we decided to brave the line up for the fireman!  It only ended up being about 20 minutes and we ate our lunch while waiting in the line so they hardly noticed!

 First for uniforms.

Then a fireman briefing.

And then off to the truck.

Then time to fight the fire.

Then we went to pump some gas.  

Uniform on and a quick and easy way to make $10 for Blake. 

He came out repeating 'I pumped some gas'

While we were standing there Caleb noticed kids with a drivers license being allowed to drive the cars around! So off he went to get his license.

First he had to go and get his eyes tested. - no license without an eye test!

Then to driver training and license test.

Yay he passed and he got a license.  He took it straight over to drive the car.

The man checks your photo matches.

Then off he went for his hard earnt drive.

Then the boys went to the mechanics.

Last activity of the day was to go into the shop with your kidzania $$.  Poor Caleb had to talk Blake around the prices and how much they had as no parents allowed again.  They (Blake I guess) decided to pool their money and have enough to buy a toy.

There are about 60 activities/jobs to do and we only just scratched the surface.  There were some great ones there that little girls would have just loved, and the boys are sad they missed the pilot and hospital.  We will be back in a few weeks for another day!!
