Sling for the little one!

As Blake is young we have been trying to work out a good way to move him around while we are travelling.  he is happy to walk for a short time - then wants to be picked up!!!!
We quicky decided against taking a stroller as we now how terrible most Asian streets are!  Just no point!
My Awesome Sister in law offered to make me a sling.
All strapped in
At first Blake wasn't too impressed...
Holding on tight.
But after the first try now he thinks it is like a big piggy ride.
There are lots of ways to wear it... I am sure we will play around with the different ways to see which one suits us best, and Kim has left the straps long so Dee can wear it too.  Can't wait to give it a serious go on our trip.

Backpack time

Time to get our bags !
We ended up going with backpacks as we really have no idea what our plans are yet!
Rays outdoor had a sale on so we made the most of it.  We got our three bags and a small day bag for about $180

We want Caleb to be responsible for his own things (essentially) so have gone with a backpack bag with wheels.  That way he can wheel it most of the time, but still pick it up and carry it if the ground is bumpy.  It is not the most comfortable bag to wear, but hopefully it will be ok!

Dee got a 60+10L bag - he will be sharing with Blake.

I got a smaller 40+10L bag - and boy will I need the extra 10L - going to be a good challenge cutting down my ideas of what I am taking :)

Derryn Is going to have to work on his photo taking skills!!

Boys pretending they are already on holidays - looking at the treats!

We still need to get a man-bag for Dee to carry around our money.  We found a great travell safe one - now to just wait for that to come on sale too and we will be in business!

New TeamNissen Website

I am trying to develop a website to share my holiday journey with everyone.

http://teamnissen.com/home.htmlStill a work in progress!

Beginning

On the 2nd of July we will be packing our backpacks and our two children who will be 3 and 6 and embarking on a grand adventure for three months!

Dee and I have travelled together many times before.  Now we are going to tackle the unknown to us... extended family travel!

I have been feeling since we had our kids that extended travel was behind us, when I came across some great travel blogs showing families all around the world, packing up everything and travelling the world.  While I am not prepared to sell all my belongings... it showed me it IS POSSIBLE!

I thinks half the battle was just saying YES WE WILL DO THIS!

The time off work, the money to cover the trip, where to go... it is all just falling into place  - thank goodness!
